About Grid Lock

Grid Lock is a free daily word-grouping puzzle from The Arcade Line, the games corner of The NYC Plug. Each grid hides four groups of four inside sixteen NYC-flavored tiles: bodega buys, neighborhood names, dispensary case staples, and wordplay that rewards local knowledge. A different grid takes the featured slot each day, and all 48 grids stay open to play whenever you like.

How to play

  1. Study the sixteen tiles. Four hidden groups of four are shuffled together in the grid.
  2. Tap four tiles that belong together, then hit Submit.
  3. You get four swipes. Every wrong guess costs one, and the round ends when they run out.
  4. Each solved group reveals its difficulty tier, from straightforward yellow up to purple, where local knowledge is required.
