Pizza Rat: a Pac-Man for the J/Z
You are the rat. The station is the maze, the tunnels wrap around, and the token booth in the middle is where the cats live. Eat every crumb to get off at the next stop. Whole slices in the corners start slice time: the cats turn blue and you can catch them for 200, 400, 800 and 1,600. Snacks show up in the booth doorway twice a level. Three lives, an extra one at 10,000.
How to play
- Swipe anywhere on the maze to steer. Arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard.
- A turn is taken at the next opening. Swiping back the way you came turns you around at once.
- Crumbs are 10, a whole slice is 50, cats during slice time are 200, 400, 800 and 1,600.
- Snacks appear in the booth doorway at 30% and 70% of the crumbs, worth 100 up to 5,000 by level.
- Clear the station and the train moves one stop up the J/Z. Every stop is faster and slice time gets shorter.
- Extra life at 10,000. Your best score saves on this device and syncs to your account if you are signed in.

Is Pizza Rat a Pac-Man clone?
It plays like the arcade original: a maze of crumbs, four chasers with different personalities, power-ups in the corners, wrap-around tunnels and a bonus item that appears twice a level. Ours is a subway mezzanine on the J/Z line, the chasers are bodega cats, the power-ups are whole slices, and the levels are stops from Broad St out to Jamaica Center.
How do the cats behave?
Sal chases you directly. Lox aims four tiles ahead of you to cut you off. Mookie uses Sal's position to flank. Nacho chases until he gets close, then loses his nerve and wanders to his corner. They alternate between scattering to the corners and chasing, and they cannot turn around on their own except when the mode switches or you eat a slice.
