About Word Faucet
Word Faucet is The NYC Plug's verbal fluency game, played entirely at bodega speed. A category flips up under the yellow awning (pizza toppings, subway lines, excuses for being late) and you have 45 seconds to type everything that fits. Valid words plop into a deli jar. Then, mid-round, the sign changes and the city expects you to keep up. The words that don't make it become the best part: a judge rejects them one by one, with notes.
How to play
- Open the tap. A category card flips up, like PIZZA TOPPINGS or THINGS IN A BODEGA.
- Type a word that fits and hit enter. Valid words drop into the jar as green pills.
- Keep pouring for 45 seconds. Duplicates bounce off the rim, so no repeats.
- When the SERVICE CHANGE banner hits, switch categories fast: old words stop counting and new ones score double.
- At the tap close, the judge rules on anything unrecognized. The rejects become the weird ones on your results card.
Word Faucet FAQ
What is Word Faucet?
Word Faucet is a free 45-second browser word game from The NYC Plug. A category flips up under a bodega awning, you type everything that fits, and every valid answer drops into a deli jar. Halfway through the round, the category switches on you and old words stop counting.
How does scoring work in Word Faucet?
Every unique valid word scores points, and words entered after the mid-round category switch count double. Duplicates bounce off the rim of the jar and score nothing. Words the game does not recognize get sent to a judge at the end of the round.
What are the weird ones?
Any words the judge rejects get spotlighted on the results screen with a short note explaining the ruling, like "not a pizza topping" or "judge declined to rule". They are usually the funniest part of the round, and you can share them.
Does Word Faucet measure impairment or sobriety?
No. Word Faucet is for entertainment only. It is not a sobriety test, an impairment test, or a fitness test, and it should never be used to decide whether it is safe to drive. Never drive after using cannabis. The NYC Plug games are for adults 21+.
Do I need to download anything to play Word Faucet?
No download and no account. Word Faucet runs free in your web browser on phone or desktop, and a full round takes under a minute.
