You're at the wrong end of the platform. Hold to run, release to slow, swipe up to hop. Between you and the doors: a tourist family five abreast, a showtime dancer mid-flip, and someone stopped dead at the top of the stairs. Slide through as the doors shut for the HELD THE DOOR bonus.

About Catch the Train

Catch the Train is the platform dash from The NYC Plug arcade: a one-shot runner about the most New York feeling there is, hearing the ding-dong from the wrong end of the platform. Hold to run, hop whatever the city put between you and the A train, and squeeze through the doors before they shut. Miss it and the board flips to DELAYED, which it was always going to say anyway.

How to play

  1. Tap RUN to start. You spawn at the far end of the platform with about 15 seconds on the clock.
  2. Press and hold anywhere on the screen to run. Let go to slow down.
  3. Swipe up (or tap HOP) to clear obstacles: the tourist wall, the wet floor sign, the showtime dancer, the stroller.
  4. A stumble costs you seconds, not the run, so keep moving.
  5. Get through the doors before 0:00. Sliding through as they close earns the HELD THE DOOR +50 bonus.

Catch the Train FAQ

How do you play Catch the Train?

Press and hold anywhere on the platform to run, release to slow down, and swipe up (or tap the HOP button) to hop over obstacles. Reach the train doors before the countdown hits zero. On a keyboard, hold Shift or the right arrow to run and press Space to hop.

What is the HELD THE DOOR bonus?

The doors start closing in the final two seconds, right after the ding-dong chime. Slide through while they are actually closing and you earn a +50 bonus, plus the silent judgment of everyone already on the car.

Is Catch the Train free to play?

Yes. It runs free in your browser with no download and no account. It is one of twelve NYC-themed mini games in The NYC Plug arcade.

What is endless mode?

Board three trains and endless mode opens up: longer platforms, denser crowds, and one train in five is secretly an express that skips the station entirely. Not your fault. It was never stopping.

Does Catch the Train measure sobriety or impairment?

No. It is for entertainment only, not a sobriety or impairment test, and it is intended for adults 21 and over. Never drive after using cannabis.
